Elaine Jorgenson is a wealthy Key West real estate developer whose second husband is gambler Kevin Terminadi. Kilgore must work against shadowy underworld figures to get justice.
Gaylord Dold lived in south Florida and has fished the Florida Bay. He's also the author of guides to the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, as well as the general Caribbean area.

Having read some of Dold's work years ago, I was delighted to learn that his more current work was available for digital download here at Amazon. I selected his two Jack Kilgore Key West novels - The Nickel Jolt and Same Old Sun, Same Old Moon - and enjoyed them both immensely. I found both to be real page turners that delivered intelligent mysteries, suspense and shock along with occasional laughs. Without giving away too much of the plots, among many other things, one involved ultimate familial betrayal, the other familial love and avengement for the brutal murder of family members. Both are good reads well worth your time and money.Product details

After reading all of the Mitch Roberts books and subsequent novels, including Schedule Two and The Last Man in Berlin, I was eager to read the first in this new series introducing a new protagonist in the person of Jack Kilgore. Typical of past Dold novels, this one is loaded with authentic local color. A good story animated by its characters.
This is a very good book if you like murder mysteries and crime novels. It is definitely a page turner as the theme is well-developed, strong and entertaining. It does contain some cursing, violence and sex but this is probably the nature of a crime novel.
In this new novel, Dold introduces Jack Kilgore, an ex-Marine Intelligence officer, who is hired to protect Elaine Jorgenson, a wealthy Key West real estate developer, against threats from an environmental group. They're not happy Jorgenson wants to bring a gambling casino to a popular Key West beach-front property. Kilgore fails as her protector--Jorgenson is killed in a car bombing. Kilgore then works to find the killer or killers, and an unexpected clue leads him to Las Vegas, where he encounters Moe Koffer, a sleazy private detective with connections to gambling and boxing interests. Kilgore pits himself against shadowy underworld figures to get justice. This long-awaited novel from Dold is craftily written, suspenseful, and, as is true of all his previous works, a real page-turner. It's good to have Gaylord Dold back in the crime fiction game.
